U.S. COVID-19 death toll reaches 800,000
The one country in the world with more vaccines than it knew what to do with. Wow.
Sobering news. The death toll from COVID-19 in the United States has crossed 800,000 people. That’s more than the entire population of North Dakota. The US lost an entire state’s worth of people in this pandemic.
Much of this was because of the Delta variant, that ravaged large parts of the United States, especially those with low vaccination rates.
Per the Reuters analysis, we went from 600,000 to 700,000 deaths in just 111 days. We went from 700,000 to 800,000 in just 73 days. Just over 2 months.
This is with vaccines being widely available. The one country in the world with more vaccines than it knew what to do with. Wow.
The winter surge in the US is well underway, and it’s Delta, not Omicron. This number is only going to go up, and before long we’re going to see 1 million deaths in the US from this pandemic.
Please, get vaccinated and boosted. COVID-19 is a preventable illness.
