BREAKING: Supreme Court blocks Biden's vaccine mandate

Allows it to stand for healthcare workers that work in facilities that accept Medicare/Medicaid money

Sorry I haven’t posted in a while - I got COVID, recovered well, and have been busy with life. But I’m back with the big news from today. The US Supreme Court today blocked Biden’s vax-or-test mandate for large businesses. However, they have allowed it to stand for healthcare facilities that accept Medicare/Medicaid money - which is about >90% of all health care facilities and workers that work in the US.

As I explained in my TikTok on this earlier, I am not surprised by this action. I was also never in favor of widespread mandates because I do not believe that is the best way to convince people to get vaccinated - I believe in doing so via education (and sometimes personal experiences).

However, I am very happy and glad that they allowed it to stand for healthcare workers. HCW should be vaccinated, period (except those with valid exceptions, of course). Unvaccinated HCW cannot work in healthcare - that is asinine.

Unfortunately, what this ruling does mean is that it is a major setback in our efforts to slow the spread of this disease, and more Americans will die unnecessarily from a preventable illness. We are now seeing 750,000-1 million cases a DAY in the US, with hospitalizations over 150,000 (highest ever). ~2,000 people a DAY are dying of COVID-19 in the US, the vast majority of them unvaccinated.

We are nowhere close to this becoming endemic. HCW across the country are getting sick, and our hospitals are struggling, and have completely collapsed in some places. The nightmare is going to continue.

Sigh.
